Eat To Live

Nina McIntosh-Ragland keepersofthegarden

I started a diet!

I started meditating!

I am walking three evenings a week!

I joined the gym and I have a new trainer!

I am drinking 72 ounces of water a day!

Go girl!

I can start things but I have not learned consistently. The “see it through” has not evolved in me in most things I start. I know exactly what I need to do to be healthy mind, body and soul but I am not consistent.

To busy.

To tired.

To extended.

I have to be honest, I love cookies, pies and cakes. Ice cream sundaes are truly a favorite! The target result is simply my enjoyment. However the consequences of my eating delight is costly.

Focus 2025 for Keepers Of The Garden  is “Eat To Live”. July is  the halfway mark of the year. I want to be healthier and I want you to join me on this journey. Moderation, adjustments and sacrifices must be instituted in our daily diets to add years to our lives.

I have removed most starch  from my daily diet. I eat more n limited portions of white rice, potatoes or pasta. I have replaced white pasta with vegetable or wheat pasta. I now enjoy rye,100% wheat or pumpernickel bread. I enjoy a good salad. I have fun with new recipes and I have learned to explore food options I didn’t normally include. Sugar is not in my cabinet so it is not an option.

However my sweet tooth takes more effort to remove so I simply don’t. I do eat sweets in moderation and have disciplined myself to have smaller portions. Do I slip sometimes, do I make a decision to eat something I shouldn’t have, absolutely!  I have changed my language and my taste buds so I don’t slip as much but when I do I remember my focus,” Eat To Live”.

Our focus books this year are both by Dr. Carolyn Leaf, Think & Eat Yourself Smart and Switch On Your Brain from these books I quote and reference. I encourage you to add these books to your library and read a portion daily. We have talked about the MOD (Modern American Diet), genetically made foods, mass production of food and eating food like products.

“Go back to eating “real food” not food like products”.

“Real food is grown the way God intended”

Genesis 1:11-12 kjv

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

In the hurry of our daily lives,

“we are eating harmful food, digesting mysterious food with unknown chemicals, pesticides and preservatives”.

Eating should be primarily for nutrition and our bodies needs. We should have targeted results and consume the food that helps us meet the desired outcomes. “Change our minds” decide not eat to be diabetic, hypertensive and overweight. We are making a choice not to feed the negative and unhealthy us. Do the research to find out what good food your body needs to be a healthier you and revise your menu.

Romans 12:2 kjv

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
